ERGaR - European Renewable Gas Registry
ERGaR, the European Renewable Gas Registry, was founded in September 2016 with headquarters in Brussels. The objective and task of this association is to establish a trustworthy system for cross-border ownership transfer of biomethane certificates between established biomethane registries in Europe in an independent, transparent and confidence-building manner.
For this purpose, ERGaR developed the ERGaR Certificate of Origin scheme, a coopareation-exchange system which enables the secure, efficient and standardised cross-border onwership transfer of (sustainably certified) biomethane certificates for all connected registries in Europe.
ERGaR is a cooperation project of different national registres of the European biomethane sector. Biomethane registries from Austria (AGCS), Germany (dena), Denmark (energinet), France (GRDF), the UK (REA) and Switzerland (VSG) play a central role. Biogas associations as well as industry partners are also represented.
