As an independent, statutory representation of the interests of all companies in the gas and heat supply industry in Austria, FGW is committed to the economic, safe, and environmentally friendly use of gas, district heating and district cooling in Austria.

Its core tasks are industry representation, company promotion, knowledge transfer and information service.

As part of its “Greening the Gas” strategy, the FGW has set itself the goal of gradually replacing Austria's natural gas consumption with green gas (biomethane, hydrogen and synthetic methane).
